Nikki: How long have you practiced yoga and what other forms of exercise do you like to do?
Kelsey: I've practiced yoga for 5 amazing years - it's basically the only form of exercise I do regularly (unless you count running to catch the 2 train).
Nikki: What brought you to YogaSpark?
Kelsey: I was intrigued by the blacklight experience, lived in the neighborhood and turned out to know a few of the teachers from my old hot yoga studio. It was meant to be! <3
Nikki: You are on your way to Med School, just finished your 200hr Yoga Training, and are currently doing a Mentorship at YogaSpark. Can you write a little about why yoga is such an important part of your personal and professional journey?
Kelsey: I wouldn't be where I am today without yoga. As a pre-medical student, it's easy to find yourself taking multiple-hour marathons in the library. On top of the studying the material, working with patients can be taxing! Yoga is my escape from work to reconnect with my mind, my body and my breath. Basically anytime I bring myself to the mat, I figure out something new about myself and my tendencies (physically AND mentally). When you're in the heat and folding your body into all of these shapes, it's the most self-reflective experience.
Nikki: Can you give a word or phrase that describes yoga to you?
Kelsey: JOY!
