Yogi of the Month

September 2023 Yogi of the Month

Bryan is a steady weekend warrior at the Spark, and found us after a 10 year hiatus in his practice. When he's not at the studio, you can find him on the slopes. We are so thankful to have you in our community, Bryan!

Q: How long have you practiced yoga and what other forms of exercise do you like to do?
I practiced Yoga for about 3 years over 10 years ago. When I moved to NY from Vancouvr in 2011 Istarted a 10 year hiatus because I could not find a studio I gelled with. One time (at a studio that will not be named) I was told to find another studio that was less advanced becuse I was disturbing the flow of the class. I'm the only person I know who has been cut from yoga class!

Q: What brought you to YogaSpark?

I wanted to get back into yoga while I was taking time off work last year. I was happy to find hot flow yoga with a low key vibe again!

Q: What do you love about practicing hot power yoga?

I like the challenge of practicing the positions in the heat. I really like when the class flies by in the blink of an eye. Yoga also keeps me in good shape for skiing and has saved me from skiing injuries.

Q: Can you give a word or phrase that describes yoga to you?

Empowering and rejuvenating.

Q: What's your current favorite song to flow to?

I'm the worst at song names.

Q: Do you have a favorite quote?

"The bill always came" which is from the Sun Also Rises. I always take the quote to mean be good to others as you travel through life.

Q: What yoga pose do you love practicing right now?

I'm trying to get better at flying warrior.

Q: Tell us one non yoga factoid about you

I love skiing.
