Melissa

Melissa is a longtime yogi and a deeply loved member of our Westchester community! Read her interview here:

Q: How long have you practiced yoga and what other forms of exercise do you like to do?
I've practiced for 15+ years and 8 amazing years with Yoga Spark!

Q: What brought you to YogaSpark?

I discovered hot yoga when we lived in NYC, so when we moved to Larchmont in 2016, I was excited to find YogaSpark. While I loved the original Mamaroneck location, Lauren hit it out of the park with the new studio. I feel so lucky to have such an incredible studio close to home to practice at.

Q: What do you love about practicing hot power yoga?
To me, there is nothing quite like the feeling of a hard and hot flow class. I leave feeling like I've sweat out so much stress and love the deeper stretch that you feel from a heated class. Every hot class brings such an amazing chance to reset -- I leave feeling more hopeful and connected to the world outside the studio.

Q: Can you give a word or phrase that describes yoga to you?
Present. Yoga helps me connect with the present moment but also feel like I'm able to be more present to my family and friends because of how I feel after practicing.

Q: What's your current favorite song to flow to?
I have a Spotify playlist of songs I've been introduced to in YogaSpark classes -- Kaitlyn played Lost in Space (by Emmitt Fenn) and Lauren played Sapling (Foy Vance) recently for savasana -- I also love Jenny Ray's amazing playlists -- especially Afro Beats that she did recently.

Q: Do you have a favorite quote?
“We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.” - Martin Luther King, Jr.
